Ask any bride: settling on a color palette for your wedding is one of the most difficult parts of planning. If you’re looking for hue inspiration for your big day, experts say gold is still going strong. Paired with geometric patterns in black and white, as well as romantic shades of pink, this color combination is on-trend, yet classic.
Taryn Blake of Taryn Blake Events says the key to using this glamorous color palette is to incorporate it throughout the décor, from ceremony to reception. Along with photographer Jennifer Rotz and a team of other Susquehanna Valley vendors, Blake assembled this inspirational photo shoot to show you how these colors can be done well. Read along to find her top tips and ideas.
1. Textural table runners are all the rage. A bronze sequined version is perfect for an affair of this color scheme.
2. Gold Chiavari chairs are a must for your reception, but why not use them during your ceremony too? Available locally at Event Central PA, this sophisticated seating is a great option for your celebration.
3. Forget traditional bride-and-groom or monogrammed cake toppers, says Blake. Sculptural, edible flowers, like the ones on this sweet pink-and-gold treat by The Perfect Cake, are a more modern way to go.
4. Your invitation truly sets the tone for the celebration, from color to style. For something special, try custom letterpress invitations crafted locally by 26 Press.
5. Rock candy in your champagne glasses? Now that’s a sweet idea. Top off with some bubbly for a sweet surprise.
6. Don’t be afraid to go tall for your table arrangements. These gorgeous florals, created by Summer Thyme Floral, feature a variety of textures and hues, as well as water-filled pillars accented with pink tulips to add height to the tablescape and visual interest at eye level.
7. As far as events are concerned, rectangular tables are the new round. But how can you keep the end seat from feeling isolated? Use low floral arrangements beside your centerpieces to keep the table balanced and keep your color palette moving throughout the space.
8. When incorporating sequins and shine in your décor, think about keeping your gown consistent. A pop of gold sequins on the dress’ bodice adds just enough glitter.
9. Gold and pink can get a bit girly. For a more masculine boutonniere, opt for greenery accented with gold and white, wrapped in black-and-white-striped ribbon. But be careful, Blake says. The key to geometric patterns is using them sparingly.
10. A groom can’t go wrong in a classic black tuxedo, like this one rented from J&B Bridal. With so much glam around him, this simple and sophisticated option feels perfect.
11. Blake recommends using metallic elements in unexpected ways, like within your bridal bouquet. Ask your florist to add greenery that has been painted gold to a floral arrangement in shades of soft pinks and creams for a creative, yet affordable, solution.
12. Try an unexpected seating favor: a fluffy ball of sweet pink cotton candy boxed and wrapped with an adorable gold ribbon bow.
13. With all of the great gilded elements going on, why spoil the look with silverware? If you weren’t already aware, know that gold flatware is an option.
14. At the end of the day, all you’ll have left is your memories of the moment, so remember to document your creative details with photography. Here, the real-life newlyweds, Sarah and Kyle, take the opportunity to cozy up while displaying the colors, textures and patterns of the day.
