Summertime always brings great outdoor concerts, festivals, and fairs. You can have your pick from an art show to a crazy concert in a park or field. Whatever brings you out into the rays of sunshine, this is the time of year to keep in mind comfort and flexibility. But don’t worry, you don’t need to look like you’re twenty again (unless you are). This look does not require you to wear teeny tiny shorts or dated floral headbands. Lots of other fashion-worthy options out there this year. Think denim shorts, hats, comfy sundresses, skirts, and sunglasses.
When you’re out and about enjoying the music scene or whatever event you happen to be attending, your wardrobe needs to be functional and contribute to making your day more enjoyable. An easy crossbody bag to carry your essentials (including sunscreen if you’re fair like me) and comfortable shoes or boots will do the trick. A hat will not only protect your hair color and your scalp, but it adds that perfect accent to a summer outfit. Added bonus: you don’t have to worry if it rains, you get sweaty, or you’re just having a bad hair day. The perfect hat masks all of that.
I wear a lot of dresses in the summer that work perfectly with this trend. You can pick from mini to maxi and everything in between. If you’re going to an event lasting into the night, just toss an oversized scarf into your bag to take the chill off when then sun goes down. If you prefer shorts, you can pair distressed or cut-offs with a printed tank. Pull out that old band t-shirt you’ve been wanting to wear—this is your opportunity! I’m really a fan of graphic t-shirts and try to keep a steady supply on hand. Pair this look up with a cool kimono or draped cardigan.
Grab your sunglasses, toss on an armful of bracelets, a bag, and get outside!
