Butcher on the Block
In the Susquehanna Valley, it goes without saying that community members share a love of all things locally produced. Tony and Kristina Page of Rooster Street Provisions in Elizabethtown are no exception. In fact, the Pages’ passion for supporting neighbors and community, as well as their belief in respecting the lives of animals and plants, moved them to open a traditional French charcuterie that supplies local, natural pork products, cheeses and preserved goods. Some of their products include salamis, sausages, hams and bacons—all of which come from humanely raised and slaughtered pigs. Stop by to add a gourmet touch to your meals this week with artisan products like salami with toasted fennel and dry red wine, peach mostarda (an Italian-style condiment of peaches preserved in mustard) or rosemary ham flecked with chili pepper.

Reader’s Lens: Susquehanna Valley Snapshots
This mother/daughter photo was submitted by local resident Kristy Aurand: “My mom has incurable, extensive lung cancer. This photo (taken at a Lancaster Barnstormers benefit) symbolizes our relationship because, no matter what, my mom and I are always on the same team, supporting and loving each other through whatever life throws at us.”

We couldn’t be happier to welcome Susquehanna Style fashion correspondent Hilary Arthur’s boutique to the downtown York scene! A proud York native, Arthur began her business online, which led to several pop-up shops and eventually materialized into a permanent location. On March 1 she opened the doors of Arthur & Daughters, a place for consignment designer clothing and accessories, as well as independent designer wears. Arthur’s 17 years of fashion and retail experience, combined with her love for local goods, helps her to bring “big style, small town” fashion to Central Pennsylvania. Be sure to stop by and welcome her to the neighborhood!

Pint Paradise
Think you’d have to travel to Oktoberfest to find 100+ beers on tap? Think again! Federal Taphouse, the region’s newest draft beer and wood-fired pizza joint, has established not one, but two locations in the Susquehanna Valley. With what can only be described as an encyclopedia of brews handwritten each day on their blackboard, the Federal Taphouse offers something to please even the most discerning palate for ales. Pair your beverage with an artisan pizza—like the duck confit pizza with caramelized onion, fig and arugula—and “fed fries” (poutine, with cheese curds and gravy, if you please). Extra incentive: you can catch live music above the Harrisburg location at the restaurant’s music venue counterpart, Fed Live.
