1. #PlaceCool/FunnyHashtagHere
What: Make an Instagram hashtag for your party
Why: If no one shares pics from your party, no one on social media will be reminded that you’re still cool and still have fun with your friends on at least a biannual basis.
Cost: Nada!
How: Don’t: use NYE, NYE2017, etc. There will be so many pictures you’ll never be able to find snap shots from your actually party.
Do: Use an online hashtag generator if you can’t think of anything creative.
2. No dirty dishes in the background, please.
What: DIY tinsel photo backdrop
Why: Friends don’t let friends take pictures in front of kitchen cabinets on NYE.
Cost: $8.99+
How: The easiest solution is to buy a doorway curtain from a party store and tape it to the wall! They’re 3-feet wide so if it’s a large group, you may want to purchase more than one. Add some photo props for some more excitement!
See more about this here.
3. BOOMerang!
What: Confetti photo op
Why: If there was ever any evening to take a Boomerang for the Gram, it’s NYE. And, other than taking a quick video popping a bottle of champagne (which I’ve done, but it can be a little challenging), a confetti Boomerang video is just about as cute as it gets.
Cost: Cut up extra paper you have around the house and it can be free, or spend a couple of dollars to make it a little “extra.”
How: No explanation needed, but if you want to go above and beyond, I love these DIY confetti sticks and you probably already have everything you need to make them!
See how to make them here.
4. Festive fortunes
What: Hand out fortune cookies as party favors (or, just have them at the party) to welcome what’s to come in 2017!
Why: Because, who doesn’t like to post a picture of there fortune from a fortune cookie? Plus, they’re adorbs and totally fitting for the occasion.
Cost: It depends… my recommendation would be to order Chinese food a couple times this week and ask for extra cookies every time. You can also purchase 50 fortune cookies for $8.99 on Oriental Trading.
How: Either just have them sitting out in the wrappers for guests to take with them, or for a couple more dollars, spread on some frosting and add some sprinkles to make them really stand out!

5. “2017” balloons on a budget
What: DIY faux 2017 balloons
Why: We all know that giant letter/number balloons are one of the biggest celebration trends right now. If you turned 25 and have giant a “2” & “5” balloon, did you even have a birthday? But, let’s face it - we’re ballin’ on a budget here. So, instead of paying to buy giant “2017” balloons and getting them filled with helium, try these! Seriously, I was so excited when I found this idea on Pinterest. They might not be as big - but they’re equally as cute and can be used for a photo prop, cake topper, or stick them in old wine bottles that are spray painted gold for a decoration.
Cost: Under $10 (most likely you have most materials you need)
How: Check out the tutorial here.
Wishing everyone a fun, safe & Instagram worthy NYE & 2017, cheers!
