This is the time of year when cabin fever seems to be at its highest. The holidays are over, my birthday has come and gone, and it is typically too frigid to venture outside for too long. Add two children under the age of six and the likelihood of heading outside is less and less!
Luckily, my husband and I have a great babysitter for the girls, and both of our parents are super involved grandparents, so we are able to treat ourselves to kid-free dates every so often. While we have a few different babysitter options for our girls, beggars can’t be choosers, right? We take what we can get, which means our dates may be day dates sometimes, and evening dates other times.
I put together his-and-her date looks for both day and evening dates. Although I don’t go too over the top for dates with my husband, I do still like to look put-together. I tend to lean more towards casual, but stylish for daytime outings, and dressy casual for evening dates.
With a pair of skinny black pants, it is easy to transition them from day to night. Comfortable slip-on sneakers will get you through the day. Swap them out for a cute pair of heels and you are all set for a night out!
A simple pair of jeans is an easy transition for a guy, and of course something everyone owns. My husband wears jeans just about every day, both for work and for play. He is really good with dressing jeans up or down based on what we have planned. A sleek blazer and jeans is one of my favorite combos for guys and one that he reaches for often. Something about it says they put thought into their look. A cozy knit sweater and a button up plaid is also a great alternative to a blazer.
In the Susquehanna Valley area there are a lot of great things to do for both day dates, and evening dates. These are a few of my favorite:
Dutch Apple Dinner Theater, Lancaster: A great place to catch dinner and a show. A one-stop-shop for a fun date night!
Central Market, York: This is great for a day date. Head into the market to grab some lunch and stroll the shops downtown.
Troegs Brewing, Hershey: As much I love beer, this would be a dream date for my husband!
Waltz Vineyard, Manheim: This is more my cup of tea than my husband’s. Whether it’s just the two of us, or a group of friends, vineyards are one of my favorite dates!
Put on some lipstick, put together a fancy outfit (or casual if it suits you better) and head out with your loved one. There are a lot of options to help cure your winter cabin fever. Just because the temps outside are frigid doesn’t mean you need to hibernate!
