As you may have seen in the pages of our September/October issue, the staff of Susquehanna Style went absolutely wild during the making of this year’s fall fashion spread. Don’t assume that you’d have to travel to see exotic specimens like these, though. This large collection of preserved animals is on display at York’s own Nixon County Park Nature Center!
The 14,000 square foot Nature Center, located on 187 acres of lush meadow, woodland and aquatic habitats, is an ideal location for day trips by old and young alike.
Francis Velazquez, administrator of the Nature Center, proved to us that his collection of creatures has something for just about everyone. In fact, the 180+ specimens housed in the facility come from over 15 different countries around the world.
The center is open for educational classes including school field trips, day camps and summer internships. For more information on the offerings at Nixon County Park, both inside and outside of the Nature Center, visit http://yorkcountypa.gov/parks-recreation/education.html.
